Bonjour et bienvenue à la section française du site de l’école

  primaire Latymer All Saints

Hello and welcome to the French section of the Latymer All Saints

  Primary School Website!

Over the years we have been a leading school in Modern Foreign languages. At present we teach French to Key Stage 2.

We pride ourselves in inspiring our children to discover other languages and cultures with a broad and open mind: it gives them confidence in working with other people, it helps them make friends abroad and eventually it will look good on their curriculum vitae, if they continue on as part of their secondary education.

We organise French Days and organise annual trips to France.

Most of our language staff are native speakers, which helps children gain an authentic experience, and supports the development of their diction and pronunciation.

The progress of the students is assessed termly in the four skill areas: Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing. Teaching methods include regular use of worksheets, group and paired work, and the Interactive Whiteboards. Group work and paired work help students to practise, develop and revise what they have learnt.

Although the children will complete written activities throughout their time of study, in Year 6 the emphasis on written work is increased.  Our aim is that by the time our children leave in Year 6, they will have mastered basic French conversation, and be fully prepared for their language learning in secondary school.
